> As soon as a child is old enough to walk, they can begin climbing. ORIGIN does not have age requirements. However, we do require that all children under 14 years be under direct and active adult supervision, with adults within reach to provide assistance at all times. Children under 14 are not permitted to operate auto-belays without assistance. Additionally, the ORIGIN Training area and Weight & Cardio studio are off-limits to children under 14 unless they are enrolled in an ORIGIN youth program and under the supervision of an Origin staff member. For additional rules regarding children, please see ORIGIN Facility Rules.
>Bouldering involves climbing on short walls without the use of ropes, harness, or a partner. When bouldering, every fall is a ground fall, but at ORIGIN all boulders are surrounded by specially designed cushioned flooring which absorbs the impact and helps prevent injury.
Top Rope climbing is partnered climbing on taller walls. Climbers wear harnesses, and are attached to one another with a rope that is anchored at the midpoint to the top of the wall. As one climber ascends, their partner uses a belay device to manage the rope slack and prevent falls. Though top rope climbing involves higher walls, more equipment, and requires training, when done properly it is among the safest ways to climb and involves virtually no impact.
